TDI members and book co-editors Graham Hubbs, Michael O’Rourke and Steve Orzack discuss the Toolbox approach to the “Problem of Unacknowledged Differences” in their blog post at https://i2insights.org/2021/03/02/toolbox-dialogue-method/. These differences arise because members of different disciplines read different literatures, acquire different skill sets & learn to value different ways of knowing the world. They also aren’t trained to understand & communicate with experts from other disciplines. The Toolbox dialogue method provides a structured way for collaborators to articulate, share & discuss their research perspectives with one another, starting with core beliefs & values.
